Cateye ECT 220 Treadmills
The Cateye ECT 220 treadmill gets pretty good scores all round on features and performance. It's made by the Japanese fitness giant Cateye, which has a great track record of offering reliable and innovative products. The ECT 220 is suited for both commercial as well as private use, and comes with a sturdy steel frame. It has multiple different training programs: Automatic Heart Rate Training program, Interval Training Programs, Hill Profile Programs and Manual Training Programs. The console display is blue, with black lit LCD (which goes easy on the eyes). It comes with a unique horizontal "split screen" facility for showing both your heart rate history and a training course history. On a more technical note, it has a 2.5 HP Baldur motor providing speed up to 12 MPH and supports an incline raise up to 12 %. The heart rate control uses a wireless pulsimeter. It has a 20"X60" running surface with a 2 ply belt and 8 hidden elastomer cushions (which offer superior shock absorption compared to a lot of other brands). It also supports multilanguage display if you need it for some reason, in English, Japanese, Spanish, French and German.
Advantages:
1. Excellent state of art technology and cutting edge features- the heart rate control programs and high endurance training program are particularly good.
2. Option to customized the manual training program.
3. This gives a pretty superior workout experience overall.
Disadvantages:
1. The console can be hard to comprehend and needs a lot of getting used to. The digital controls also require some time to learn and be acquainted to.
2. Even with lots of preset training programs, its 2.5 HP motor lacks the punch for high endurance workouts.
3. Pretty expensive at around $3300.
