Treadmill  Tips

Treadmills are powerful tools. They have the ability to burn a great deal of calories, allowing you to improve your figure, and they are also a great way to improve your cardiovascular health. No matter if you are running or walking on these machines, they are one of the only ways to get a daily amount of aerobic exercise in the comfort of your own home, and that makes them incredibly valuable.

Still, as with any pricy piece of aerobic equipment, you want to benefit as much as possible. The treadmill is going to be fine on its own, but if you perform the following actions, you are going to be able to get even more out of your aerobic exercise routine.

Tips for Treadmill Use

1.      Vary the Routine

If your goal is to both improve your heart health and burn calories, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to vary your exercise routine. You want to keep your muscles guessing. The more they are prepared for the exercise, the fewer calories they burn. To do that, simply change the speeds and incline at random times throughout your workout. Your muscles will be unable to “prepare” and you will get the most out of your run.

2.      Try the Rest and Run Approach

If you want to speed up the cardiovascular benefits, you can try an approach used by many trainers. After you have warmed your body up through walking and stretching, try running on the treadmill as fast as you can at full sprint for as long as 2 minutes. Once you are dune, slow it down to a walking pace for another couple of minutes, then try the sprint again. Repeat this over and over again. This method not only drastically boosts your heart strength, but it also increases fat burning dramatically.

3.      Switch Up the Incline

It is nice to give your joints a break every once in a while, and it makes your workouts less boring as well. So when you feel that you have been running too often and you are starting to feel the aches and pains from regular use, try mixing it up by setting the incline high. This allows you to walk at a more leisurely pace while still giving you the exact same heart rate and calorie burning benefits. Your joints will appreciate the rest, and you get to enjoy another way of exercising.

Music, Movies and More

There are two reasons for utilizing all of these different options.

·        By changing your routine, you will burn more calories and improve the effectiveness of your exercise routine.

·        By changing your routine, the exercise you do will become less boring, despite using the same machine, and keeping your interest is one of the best ways to keep yourself running strong.

For the second point, don’t forget to try to make your routine more exciting by listening to music, watching TV or spending time with your family. The more you associate your exercise with positive things, the more likely you are to stick with it.
