Treadmills by Price Range
Treadmills are one of the few exercise machines that do not have a lot of
different styles. A treadmill always must have the moving belts, and the
only differences are whether or not that belt moves at various paces, how
durable the machine is, whether it has an incline and some of the other
nifty perks that come with higher priced treadmill models. There are two
types of treadmills:
·
The Motorized Treadmill
·
The Self Powered Treadmill
But these days self powered treadmills are hard to find, extremely
inexpensive, and few people actually use them. It takes a lot of force to
get the belts moving, and that force means pressure on your knees, which
usually means putting the treadmill away and never using it again.
Assuming you are going to go with the motorized
treadmills, they can still be very different and, like most machinery, you
can expect different things based on what you pay for. Here is what you can
expect from the various price ranges.
Budget Treadmills
If you do not have a lot to spend on a treadmill,
chances are you are going to receive very little. The motors of these
treadmills are usually fairly adequate, but they do tend to experience
greater wear and tear, especially at high speeds. They often have shorter
belts, which can be difficult or dangerous for some users with long running
strides, and the material used to make the treadmill is often less sturdy,
which can result in shaking of the treadmill, causing increased damage.
Budget treadmills are more likely to fold up, however, which many people
enjoy.
Moderately Priced Treadmills
Once you are willing to spend a few thousand, the
number of features goes up considerably. Most of the time they come with a
decent heart monitor, easy to read layouts, good incline abilities and some
of the programs that you may want to use for your routine. On the downside,
these too tend to have shorter decks which make them less ideal for tall or
long stride runners, and they are most often made for a single user rather
than a whole family depending on its construction.
High Priced Treadmills
High priced treadmills can come with a number of frills
that make the treadmill more enjoyable. They are usually feature rich with a
variety of targeted programs for your cardiovascular health and calorie
burning abilities, and they have longer decks so that men and women of all
sizes can run on them without worrying about the length of their strides.
Overall, there is considerable difference between the
prices and what you receive for all of these treadmill types. The rule of
thumb is to simply try to save up as much as you can, so that you are able
to purchase as high a quality treadmill as you can afford. By doing so, you
reduce the likelihood that it will need to be replaced in the future, and
you get all of the features you could ever need.
